Hello, all. I need to convert some DVX footage from Letterbox (4:3 frame with black bars on top and bottom) to Pan & Scan (zoom into image, chop off sides). Here are the specifics:
Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD
24pA DV footage
In-camera letterbox mode
Dual 2GHz G5 Power Mac
Is there a specific % that I should blow up the footage? Do I just eyeball it until there's no more black on top and bottom? What about underscan? Do I need to blow up only up to the "TV safe" guides, or should it be the entire frame, even though some of it will get cut off by the TV?
What about quality? I can easily just resize the clips in FCP, but it becomes soft and not crisp. Can I use something like Disjecta's Up-rezzing method with PhotoZoom Pro to get better results? (See this link: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=6843 ) If so, what should the new dimensions be?
I know these are a lot of questions, and I greatly appreciate any advice. :dankk2:
