letterbox to anamorphic (help!!!)

I have a camera guy who shot several days using the letterbox feature on the DVX100, but our show requries anamorphic (squeeze). Is there any way to use/save this footage?

Anamorphic is not squeeze... You can go into your NLE and select square aspect pixel ratio to squeeze your already-proper footage. Why ?
 
Yes you can save the footage. If you're using Vegas to edit, you could easily convert letterbox to squeeze by using the pan/crop tool to crop off the letterbox bars.
