Letterbox scaling is it any good.

I have just retired and am thinking of buying a 46" LCD TV plus an AV receiver amp SONY SRTDA5200ES which upscales all inputs to 1080i. I would like to know if when using my PAL DVX102B cam in 25p letterbox that the footage would look just acceptable, very good or great on that sized screen? Has anyone got this type of setup and what is your experience? Perhaps I should look at an HD cam instead, but it would have to be a travel type as I will be a bit cleaned out after buying the TV & amp. All help will be appreciated. :)

I have a 40 inch Sony crt HDTV, an upconverting DVD player, and a NTSC DVX100B. The squeeze mode footage looks a little sharper than 4:3, because of the upconversion. Wide angle landscape shots don't look that good compared to true HD but close ups look very good. I assume that your PAL DVX would look even better. If you like to take a lot of wide angle scenery shots, I would suggest an HD cam.
