letter cannot be read and flicker

hi there everyone,
i'm very very new to the ag dvx thing. i have a pal (102b) and i have some questions:
1. i shot some pages of a book from a reasonable distance on 25pa which i suppose is the f6, right? on the screen the material was readable but on the capture the letters were overlapping and there was a slight flicker, might this be because i shot on letterbox?
2. while capturing adobe premiere has this 24p option but as mine is a pal and 25p, there is no particular option for 25p, so in which setting should i do the capturing?
3. what is the difference between a letterbox and squeeze setting, which would you recommend for a short movie shootage?
4. i had this very warm picture especially on orange and reddish areas, now i did or must have done something it is not that warm anymore, i remember temperature setting was about -3 but even that doesn't give the warmth anymore, what would you suggest, or what setting for a sunny day outside shooting?
5. about the head wear thing, i don't seem to care so much about the head, it's about 150 hours now and do you think i kinda have another good thousand hour, and if slave recording can be used, even if the head doesn't operate anymore isn't it possible to use a slave camcorder after thousands of hours, why bother now? or am i missing a point here?

i would very much appreciate your answers and even more appreciate that if you explained it as if to Michael Scott, thank you all.

I don't mind answearing typical questions but before someone else tells you let me tell you that most of your questions can be found with the Search function. Give it a try!

what do you mean by overlapping and flicker? do you have any sample footage or stills?
letterbox should have nothing to do with it.
2. while capturing adobe premiere has this 24p option but as mine is a pal and 25p, there is no particular option for 25p, so in which setting should i do the capturing?
that's a premiere question, you can ask that at the premiere thread!
3. what is the difference between a letterbox and squeeze setting, which would you recommend for a short movie shootage?
letterbox is for 4:3 display, squeeze is for 16:9 display. letterbox just give you more of the cine look by adding the black bars on the top&bottom.
4. i had this very warm picture especially on orange and reddish areas, now i did or must have done something it is not that warm anymore, i remember temperature setting was about -3 but even that doesn't give the warmth anymore, what would you suggest, or what setting for a sunny day outside shooting?
I think you are talking about white balace, don't shoot inside and have your white balace for outdoors. adjust your white balace.
5. about the head wear thing, i don't seem to care so much about the head, it's about 150 hours now and do you think i kinda have another good thousand hour, and if slave recording can be used, even if the head doesn't operate anymore isn't it possible to use a slave camcorder after thousands of hours, why bother now? or am i missing a point here?
so your point is, you want to use your DVX until it breaks and then start using a slave camera so you can still record right?
if that's the case, I've never done the slave recording so I can't tell but I guess it could work. (unless a warning sign comes up on the DVX and it blocks you from recording)

Premiere doesn't have any special capture settings, it simply transfers the footage from your camera to the computer, and keeps intact the DV flags that specify the frame rate, field order, etc.

It's not the capture that counts, it's the project settings once you start working with the footage. If you shot LETTERBOX 25p, that's Normal/Fullscreen/4x3 PAL. Look for the Normal PAL project preset, and since you shot 25p, set the project field order settings to No Fields/Progressive.
