Hi Guys
first off I want to say thanks for the advice I received RE-shot in 30P video dark..
I followed the advice given and problem solved .I must admit blowing the sky out at first was a little uncomfortable BUT the video I have taken lately is EXCELLENT !!!!

Today I put footage captured ( 24p Thin in Letter Box mode ) of a fishing trip in my canoe with my son into Studio 9 Plus . When viewed on 4.3 TV( thru the DVX) it is Excellent , just some bars on the up and lower screen .
When editing etc ..everything is still letter box .Once burnt to DVD , BOY did it shrink . My son looked like he put on 20 lbs other than that( might look OK on a Wide Screen TV) , I was really looking for loss of Quality in the Video . I did noticed there was a VERY slight loss but nothing to cry about , it still looked great . I haven't tried in 4.3 mode yet may be in a day or 2 .
The video shot in 30P ( 4.3) , 2 or so weeks ago ( Colour corrected etc ) and put to DVD , Looks great as well .
The reason for doing this , I am doing a Documentary on a Historic Motorcycle race held here in1936. All the motorcycle scenes will be done in 60i ( B&W done in Post). and the rest done in 30P( my choice ) as this will be put to DVD . I have contacted The History Channel , The Discovery Channel , asking for their advice .....NO REPLIES !!! But the TV station in Kingston ( CKWS) replied ..they suggested everything be done in 60i .(Their choice) I have watched a few Docs to see how others do it ..I guess it's all a personal choice in how you shoot .
The reason for doing this and posting I have read that editing 24Pn in a 29.97 timeline and exporting to DVD is no good ....I had to see for myself .
Always learning something new here ....Thanks Again ...Ian

Today I made a DVD with the Letter box in 4.3 mode . When displayed on my Old Sony 27" Tv ( 1988) it looks Great , I cannot see any loss of Quality at all. Now if only I had a Widescreen TV to compare it to ..lol ..Ian
