Let's Tell a Story.........

Well, we HAD a good story going. Thanks, Simon. There always has to be one in every group. Is there some reason you are determined to change the storyline to kids playing airsoft and now to self-gratification?

Not cool, man.

Stinger was a good kid and a funny kid. I always remember him telling stories. He grew up on a honey bee farm in Illinois. At a very young age he would play in the woods and always get stung.
He became so good at getting stung over the years that he became immune to the bee venom.
If any neighbours had a bees nest they wanted removed they would call Stinger. He never wore a suit. He knew bees.

In his teens playing paintball in the woods, he would sometimes spot a bee hive. Instead of avoiding it, he would take down the hive and stregically place it
on a well travelled path he was sure the enemy would follow. He would do this in a few spots, sometimes the night before the scheduled competition.
Once anyone crossed the hive, they gave away their position by scrambling for cover.
His friends often asked him, thinking he was mean, why he did that. He always smiled and said "BEE-Cause I can".

Later when he served in army training he would use the same trick. Later while serving in El Salvador he used to catch and hang scorpions on the branches of a well traveled path. When the enemy passed, they would move the branch and the scorpion would fall on them. He was a smart and funny kid. Why his gun discharged that day will always remain with me. "Stinger". A.K.A, Whiskey Golf 5.

Before I could speak, John reminded us of the Official Secret Acts. Nothing is as it seems. Target was a woman, but not a Kardasian. That was code for the mission. Being blind has its drawbacks. Reality TV easier to visualize than drama or comedy. I'm an idiot to think it was that simple. But John won't tell us who. That's need to know and we don't need to know until we get close to our target. Just as we gear up, John said, "We have a problem."

I knew instantly what the problem was too. And calling it a problem was an understatement because it was two-fold. We were now down a man. And we were running as lean as we possibly could, each team member being responsible for several duties. Secondly, and imminently more important, we had lost the element of surprise. I had to shake my head....two minutes into Plan A, and we are already scrapping it for Plan B. A bad foretelling of things to come, if you belived in omens.

Shocked as to our presence we let go.
The towers were taken out on the first round of gunfire.
2 guards also, at first, then 2 more with hand guns after a brief squirmish.

2 rocket propelled grenades cleared the front entrance. One concussion and one smoke grenade followed with a volley of gunfire.

We were in. Our very presence must have overwhelmed them. "Shock and Awe" wasn't the word. "You Lose" was the word.

Errrr...I was talking about shooting a picture of Kim in FHM with an airsoft gun. Awkward. But anyway, on with the story. And I promise - no more airsoft!

With Plan B underway, I had to admire how quickly the team responded to the change in tactics. I always enjoyed watching how a well-oiled team such as ours could adapt and overcome. Plan A was more "sneak and peek". But with Plan B, we got to "shoot and loot", "hop and pop", and spread controlled chaos. Those RPG's, as heavy as they were to lug into position, sure put the icing on the cake. At first we didn't have them in our mission load-out. But Golf Tango 1 insisted we needed to cover that last base. Okay, so now I owed him a beer when we got back. They took that door clean of it's hinges. I couldn't stand around long and sightsee, the second that door came down, we needed to be inside, using the mayhem as cover. We still had a mission to complete.

Ack. This seems to be a lost cause........

Would have thought with all the previous posts, people would see the developing story line and carry it on, not interject aspects that have no bearing. Would have thought that would be a basic tenet of storytelling. People, this is here and now. We DON't HAVE CYBORGS. The event is in the recent past. They did not have them then either.

What's next? Space aliens? Sheesh, people. Use only what is in the here and now.

But it's also a good lesson for everyone. There are team players, and those that want to change your idea to fit their plans, despite the story being told. You see it all the time on set. Script calls for a poignant moment, but someone interjects....hey let's make this a slasher....he should kill her with a chainsaw "It would be better"

maybe next time you should establish genre/sub-genre and theme/message before the story starts.

but if you did not established any rules, it would not be that far fetched if comedy, fantasy, sci-fi and/or horror elements start creeping in. the thread is made to be fun and lighthearted, is it not? it's in the cafe section.
