Let the cat out of the bag

Dunno whether this has been posted here before.

The German movie "Katze im Sack" (my translation would be: cat in a bag)
was shot using DVX100s. It won the First Steps Competition in 2004.
It was blown up to 35mm and got shown at Cinemas in Germany.

Here are screenshots from the movie:

Here is the trailer:

Just thought someone might be interrested.

Wow... thank you for showing this. I don't think I would have missed this totally if it wasn't you. It looks very interesting.

They don't seem to have used the 35mm lens but pictures looks amazing. It tells us once again, it's the LIGHTING that makes the difference.

Is there any way I can pick up this movie now in US?

Absolutely great work... I can't believe how good this footage looks. In spite of not knowing what's being said, I was totally into it...

Just saw the trailer...that is some serious work...
The picture looks amazing
I think it's the best DVX100 footage I have seen so far
No...it is the best DV footage ever
Is the movie out for sale?
Can't wait to see it completely

One word, WOW. That looks amazing! I think it would be largely due to the great lighting. I wana see this whole thing now.

Anyone in Germany that can tell me if this movie is distributed across Europe?
The website is in German so I do not know!

Thanks

Excellent work!

The dutch angle that transitioned into the beginning of the scene in the train car was great.

I really like the low key lighting in the bar scene, excellent balance between the subject and backgrounds.

This is a great trailer, really makes me want to see the film

This looks superb.

I think the one thing that makes this look so pro, aside form the lighting, is the locations.

Too many people seem to feel confined to shooting in their house/apartment. In the end you get a lot of white wall and for some reason it just doesn't feel right.

Anyways, I really want to see this. Maybe someone will come along and shine some further light onto this piece.

Thanks for the link!

I forgot all about this thread. Sorry.

The film is not available on DVD yet, as it seems.
I used an email-form to ask the guys whether they plan on releasing one or not.
If I get an answer, I will post here.

regards,
Oli

Very impressive work. Looked like they had a reasonable budget for the film. Its always easier to get better footage with more money, regardless of the budget though, its still our little DVX working away.

to read almost any website in another language go to altavista.com and click on bablefish and enter the URL.

Gotta see this one after all...
Except for the DVXs they seem to have had everything a good budget "film" project normally has...
In movies were content is king, I often find that when using solid narrative technics and good cinematography, the pure technical image quality becomes almost negligible...
Will someone finally give Norm_Li a big budget, please...?
