I read in Videomaker that the DVX100 only gets the look when you do a film transfer. Well at least closer to the film look. As long as I capture 24p and edit it in 24p NLE.. (VEGAS) Will It will achieve the look I've seen on all the grabs and films on this board??

I'm so close to buying a DVX...I'm really want to make sure I can make the most of out the camera. Like I have seen so many people doing.

Most any camera will give you the filmlook when transferred to film as it will be film but getting a filmic look is what separates the rest from the beloved DVX100 is the the 24p which mimics the frame rate of standard film (24 frames a second). What will FURTHER help to achieve THIS filmlook is what goes on behind the camera in terms of composition, exposure, editing, lighting,.......

What i am trying to say is, knowing how and what to do will contribute greatly to a filmic look you are attempting to achieve. There are some great things being doen with this camera (Sundance Cinemtography Winner NOVEMBER, SHAI's Der Busch) and then there is crap and somewhere in the middle is the blase.

It'll take more than the DVX and Vegas to give you the look and results you want; if you know what you are doing you will get the results you desire.

Re: Let me get this straight..........

Also keep in mind that Videomaker is a very low-end-consumer-oriented publication (like camcorderinfo.com).  The information you get there will not necessarily be technically accurate.

Set the DVX on the F5 or F6 preset, and right out of the box it will deliver the most filmlike footage possible from a camcorder. (note: I didn't say "movielike", I said "filmlike"...)
