Ok. So I'm pretty sure im getting the D90. This will be my first dSLR. I know the basics of photography, shutter/aperture/iso ect. But I dont know anything about lenses... as im used to my point and shoot with manual controls.
I was thinking of just starting off with one lense for basic shooting (and some video, i actually have a video project coming up for class and i would love to use the d90 instead of the shitty miniDV camcorders they give us). I don't want to go $1500 so keep that in mind. I also heard its best to have manual focus lense for shooting video? So then should I got with two cheaper lenses? One manual for video/shooting and one just for shooting?
I like to shoot all kinds of stuff, ive started doing studio shoots since i have access to one. But I really like taking pictures of nature/landscapes/architicture ect. I dont really care about have a macro lense right now or any super zoom lense. Just something in between i guess.
HELP PLEASE!

Well I would go for the classic 50mm 1.8. It allows manual focus (it's quite hard mind you due to the small diameter of the focus ring) and it has an aperture ring. You can't zoom, and it's not wide angle ( generally good for architecture) but you can get great depth of field (that classic blur effect ) and it's good in low light. Hope I'm not patronising you here.

You could always go the m42/screw mount lens route (ebay/charity shops are loaded with them) if you wanted to pick up a number of cheap lenses. You would also need to buy an adapter, one which allows infinity focus. Quality with these lenses varies, so just to go round in circles - I would go for the 1.8.

Hope this is vaguely useful!

Get the 18-105VR kit lens for general shooting - it is a very good value. Then add a fast prime for shallow DOF. Either the 50 1.8 AF mentioned, or even better for video - a second hand manual Nikkor AI/AIS lens, like a 35 F2, 50 1.4/1.8 etc (there are many options).
