lense cleaning, can you?

My owners manual says nothing about the lense, it does say not to rub the eyepiece with anything because of the coating. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

Re: lense cleaning, can you?

Yes, the lens can be cleaned, but if you're using a UV filter it should be a rare occurance. The best technique is to use a rubber blower bulb to blow off any dust on the lens. Never use those cans of compressed air--they can leave a residue. That may be all you need to do. The next step is to use a soft clean brush and gently brush the lens. Stop here if that does the job. If you have a fingerprint or smudge on the lens, place one small drop of Kodak lens cleaning fluid on a folded sheet of Kodak lens tissue and rub the lens in a gentle circular motion starting from the center of the lens and spiraling out. Never put the cleaning fluid directly on the lens.

Leica Dicomar is the name for all Leica licensed lenses produced for Panasonic digital cameras. They have a proprietary multicoating applied to some of the lens elements.
