Just been trying out a few different lenses on the 371.
I have a really good Fujinon broacast A20x8 SD lens. Performance without the extender was OK, but poor with the extender (this would be the reason to want to use it, for 320mm with the extender so it's no good). By comparison the Nikon 200 f2 with 1.4x extender is superb.
Nikon 85mm 1.4, excellent, probably better than the stock lens. Sigma 50mm 1.4, sharp but lots of CA. Canon 150-600, OKish but not even close to the 200 f2 or Nikon 400 2.8.
Nikon 105 2.8 VR micro, decent, but not as good as the old Tamron 90mm macro.
Hope this might be of use to someone. I was really trying to find out just how well the 35mm stills lenses performed on so small a chip. The answer seems to be, if they're the cream of the crop of stills lenses then they'll be excellent, otherwise be cautious.
