Lens/Technique for Snap Zooming On GH1

Hey guys, wanted to see if any of you have recommendations for a lens on the GH1 that'd allow for a fast 'snap zoom'.

OR, tips on technique for achieving this with the GH1 kit lens, which is a little sluggish with zooming.

Do you think fast cranking a follow focus gear on the zoom ring would work? Could the 14-140mm kit lens handle being pushed like that without getting damaged?

Zoom to first setting.
Film Take 1. Cut
Zoom to second zoom setting.
Film Take 2. Cut
Zoom to first zoom setting.
Film Take 3.
Achieve snap zoom in post production.

You can't really snap zoom because the iris changes and the light changes...

If I set the exposure for the end of the zoom, it'd be fine. Especially since these would be short clips for fast edits.

I'm more concerned about the mechanics of the lens used to do it.
