I have a 5DII with the 24-105mm F4/L kit lens and a glidecam HD4000. When flying, do I set the lens stabilizer to 'Off"?

I asked because I do not see any difference both 'on' and 'off'

Any advice? Thks

I'm curious, why would you want the IS off while flying? I've always had it on when I run steadicam just because it can help with some tighter lens shots.

I could imagine wanting to turn off electronic image stabilizer (since its all crazy) but optical?

when you move the camera the IS fights/delays the start of the move thinking you are losing stability

this creates a kind of lagged affect to the footage which is wierd

same as you should keep it off for pans (exept for the IS lenses with two modes)

with longer lenses I see there could be some compromise situations

I find IS most useful with teles where wind etc can wobble the tripod

ANd for handholding lockoffs where it cuts out heartbeats and caffeine shakes, a stabiliser cuts those anyway..
