Lens Safekeeping?

Hey everyone,

Tried to do a search on this simple question but didn't turn up anything direct. I've ordered my UV filter but it hasn't arrived and I'm too impatient to wait until I get it before using the camera. I'm only messing with it inside and I'm not doing any serious filming, just reading along with the manual and Barry's DVX book. What's the "correct" way to clean the lens? I read one post that said not to use air cans, and another that said not to use lens cleaner fluid. So what do you guys use to clean your lenses?

Thanks for the info. It's much appreciated.

I use my t-shirt...... i know a lot of guys would have a heart attach on that one but it's really on the protective lens that I do that. Before I got the lens I used a soft cloth on the lense but that was only twice. If you can, try to blow off things that get on the lense like durt but if it's a finger print that you have some careful rubbing to do.

Get a bulb blower. You can use one of those bulbs for cleaning out babie's noses or something like a Giottos Rocket blower. Also, stop at a camera shop and buy a microfiber cloth or some Kodak lens tissue, and some lens cleaning solution. Blow off any dust and if you have any smudges, use a drop of lens cleaner on a tissue or microfiber and wipe the lens in a circular motion from the center to the edges.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm a little nervous because there is something on the lens now. The lens cap popped off in a weird way and fell back on it. It looks like it may have been nicked but very slightly. I tried to rub with a very soft cloth/shirt and it fogged a little bit. But I'm gonna head to the store and pick the items Barry recommended. Thanks. I haven't even had the camera week. I'll be putting that filter on as soon as it arrives this week.
