Lens rookie looking for advice

Hi - just about to place an order for the Body only version of the GH1... So I'll need to pick myself a decent lens. However, I'm quite new to lenses and really don't want to make a big mistake.

I'm looking for a good, wide angle with a nice, shallow depth of field to shoot cinematic narrative films. Can somebody recommend me a reasonably priced lens, and explain the adapter situation?

The kit lens is an excellent lens built exclusively to work flawlessly with the GH 1. There isn't any reason not to get it. If you need a faster lens then get the 20/1.7 Lumix G lens to complement it. Barry Green already said the kit lens is as good as any lens at f/4 and up.
