Lens Reflection

I just recently did a shoot for my church and when I was editing the footages, I noticed that in a lot of my shots, I could clearly see the reflection of my lenses. I have a Tiffen clear filter on my camera that I always keep on the camera.

Is the reflection caused because its a cheap filter. Would a matte box be able to fix that? Or was it the way I shot it and the light just reflected?
 
A mattebox would help, yes. Could also just be the angle you were shooting at.

A higher end UV filter would also help...
