Lens preference help

I've compared my 24-105L with my 24-70L and 70-200L and the 24-105 is so sooooft!
I don't know if I have a bad copy, but when punched in on the 1:1 zoom on the Oddysey, its noticeably softer and feels like I can't get it in focus properly compared to the other 2 lenses.

This is testing on a speedbooster too. I've just ordered the Sigma 35mm art lens as its reviews are stellar and I just love that focal length for stills especially.
Can't wait to see how it goes on the fs700!

But my absolute favourite go-to lens is currently the Canon 24-70mm F/2.8 L (MkI)

I always shoot with 24-70 canon, with standard metabones. the speedbooster wasn't available when I got the original... maybe it's time to upgrade :-). I actually like the crop factor for the 24-70.

I ended up getting the sigma 50-150 2.8 lens with metabones EF to E-mount speedbooster. The lens looks very nice. BUT, I'm getting a serious vignette/crop. I guess I didn't think it through. Apparently the speed booster is creating the crop. I need the regular EF to E-mount adaptor...not the speed booster version. grrrr.

Hmmmm... that's really weird since that's a long focal length so it should not vignette. I used my 70-200 f2.8 all the time on Speed Booster and no vignette at all. The only lens I get vignette on is the Tokina 11-16 when set to under 14mm on Speed Booster

The Sigma is an APS-C lens though so it wouldn't work with the speed booster. You need to use full frame lenses with the speed booster.

You might have already seen this but this metabones page shows what lenses are supported:

Gene - the 70-200 2.8 (sigma or canon) is a full frame lens so would work perfectly with the speed booster.

Exactly. I didn't think about that when I bought it. So, the question is should I just get the regular adapter from metabones, or get a different lens? hmmm. I do really like the look of the sigma. Viewing with through that lens using the Odyssey 7Q looks quite amazing.

Ah that's a bummer. It depends what you want or are willing to spend. The speed booster is amazing and I'd certainly recommend it highly. I've got canon 24-105 f4 IS and 70-200 f2.8 IS II and the set of samyang cine primes. Excellent results with the O7Q 4K2HD!! Nice thing about the speed booster is you get nearly the same fov as the full frame lens on full frame sensor and an extra stop of light. So I would recommend the full frame and speed booster but it is a fair bit more to spend.

I had the same dilemma as you. I originally just bought the standard Metabones as I had mixed collection of both cropped and full-frame Canon lenses, so wanted an adapter that would work with both. But a couple of months later I bought the speedbooster as well. Now I have two focal length options with the full frame lenses, plus an extra stop of light when needed. Well worth the money, I'd recommend having both adapters.

I have got the Tamron SP 24-70 mm F/2.8 USD for my SONY FS 700. That lens is full frame and it is an amazing sharp lens. Look up some reviews of this lens and you will see why. And it is cheaper than the Canon 24-70 lens.

Just an update: I purchased the regular metabones EF to E-mount. Works great. No more vignetting. This Sigma 50-150 is a really nice lens. Sharp image.
