Hi everybody. I recently sold my Canon XHA1 and bought a T2i I love this camera except I dont know much about it. The A1 was a great camera and served me well but I got tired of the HDV. Im basicly focusing all my attention on shooting music videos and I was wondering what lenses are good for shooting Music videos?? aslo does anybody know of any dvds that will help me get more familiar with my T2i Thanks you all ,,,im glad to be back

The Samyang 35mm f1.4 is supposed to be killer for the price. I would go with either that or the Sigma if you're on a budget.

head over to the APS-C lens discussion sub-forum:

and also to these particular threads:

plus: the samyang 35mm f/1.4 is quite new, not much discussion about it yet, but yes: samyang is making some absolutely awesome lenses for a relatively low price

I've had extremely good luck with Sigma. I find that my set of lens includes:
10 mm Sigma (for those occassional times I need a really wide field of view). This was expensive, but well worth it. A great piece of glass.
17 to 50 MM Sigma (all around favorite choice for any needs)
70 - 200 mm Canon (an expensive piece of glass that really is a superb lens)
2x converter (Canon) bought used, gives me 400mm+ on the 200, but quality can suffer a bit in low light.
50 mm 1.4 (?) can't remember but I think it's the stock lens. Good soft focus lens for muddying backgrounds.

The 30mm listed above is also a good choice, if you are really shooting theatrical vs. Documentary style. Add the 50mm. You have a bit of a longer lens and a shorter (or standard given that it's closer to 50mm on the T2i crop). You will need something in the 15 to 25mm range, to get wide angle.

I don't really shoot theatrical, so I haven't been going towards fixed focal lengths, but Philip Bloom has a lot of good theatrical choices on his site. If you really think you are going to head that way, save your money and buy really good glass. Your lens will long outlast your camera body. I assume I'll be using my Canon zoom long into the next decades. And if you really want to invest in your future, go buy the fixed focal length movie lens that are available from Zeiss. Superb just superb.

Enjoy.
