Lens Narrower on HPX500

I am running a Canon YJ12 x 6.5 on my HPX-502 and getting pretty fair results in terms of picture quality.

One thing is though, it is that is somewhat narrower on the HPX-502 then when fitted to my DSR-570's....

I have 2 of these lenses and have comared both cameras side by side and I would say its about 15% narrower on the 502.

Does anyone have an answer....I am concerened there may be an issue with the Panasonic & I relly miss the extra field of view....

Any info would be very much appreciated....

Strange, both camera's are 2/3 Inch , the result should be very similar.
Perhaps the AG-HPX502 is set to a 4/3 format?
 
I don't know about a 15% difference, but a 2/3" sensor format was always an approximation. Some sensors are a little bigger and some a little smaller. Different resolutions, manufacturers, models, etc.
 
It would make sense that a smaller sensor on the HPX502 would result in a narrower FOV....but I would have thought 2/3" is 2/3".
I guess the 502 must have a smaller sensor then the Sony 570.
I should post a frame grab from the cameras side by side...it would easily be a 15% difference in the focal lenght...
 
Sensor sizes aren't always completely standardized. In 1/3" cameras, the JVC HD100 has a sensor that's smaller than an HVX200, which has a sensor that's smaller than an HPX170. But they're all called "1/3". So it's possible that the active pixel area of the Hpx500 is a little smaller than the active pixel area of a DSR570, while both are still 2/3" cameras.
 
And even Panasonic devices have different sensor sizes.

I have a Fujinon wide angle lens that is perfect for the 500 but if I connect it to a HPX3000 the picture is wider and I get vignetting. Both cameras have 2/3 inch sensors.

well, 2/3" should be "similar". This does not mean they have exactly the same active sensor area.
Actually, the AG-HPX500 active sensor area is about 3% smaller then the AJ-HPX3000. Basically, you do not notice this and it is still far away from the 15% the TS mentions.

Maybe the 570 active area is greater then the average standard.( but the problem of vignetting could be serious with actual lenses.)

pro, do you get vignetting in all corners, or just one?
 
Actually I get really dark edges in 2 corners (left side). But on the other side there is vignetting so almost close to the "picture window" of the lens.

It is an Fujinon SD Zoom (8x4,5) that works great on the 500 but not so good on the 3000.
