Lens hood with 80mm front diameter for Nikon primes

I have several Nikon primes with 52mm threaded front. Now my mattebox (Chrosziel 411-50) has a 104mm diameter, and I have two step down rings; 104-85mm and 104-80mm.

I'm looking for a step up ring or lens hood to screw into the front of my Nikon lenses to come up to the 80mm of my mattebox. Something like rplens is doing with their Nikon primes.
Because the front of the primes move in and out a bit the step-up has to have some depth. That way the lens stays inside the mattebox.

Does anyone have an idea what kind of hood or ring to use to go from 52mm to 80mm?

77mm is too small, that would leave a gap between mattebox and ring. Besides, the step-up rings I have seen are thin because they need to be for use of filters in the step-up.

I'm looking for something a bit thicker like the Nikon HN-1 or HN-2 hood. But as far as I know they have an outer diameter of 74-75mm.

Just an FYI, The reason I suggested 77mm step up rings is so you can use standard 77mm filters or lens hoods when needed for hand held work. And because they will give you the 80mm outside diameter hard front you asked for. With the proper positioning they will work just fine in your matte box.

All the Best!

this was a good post. and thanks for the advice dave. i just picked up 6 77,, rings for all my lenses, mainly for filters to move around as i do not have a matte box yet. but when the time comes, its is nice to have all of the outer diametres the same, so for example something like redrocks donut system, the same size donut can stay in the mattebox. also interesting, upon search duclos lenses, they are infact a 77mm thread size with 80mm outside diametre, like dave suggested.

and to beef the lip up, i am looking on ebay for super cheap uv filters, pop the glass out and thread two together. then thread those onto the step up ring and it is a great cheap solution for the longer lip.

Yes Dave, thanks. Your post made me think in another direction, and I found the Cavision AR85-72 step ring. This is exactly what I need. I will use a 52mm-72mm step-up ring and screw in the Cavision ring.
