Lens for point of view sequence?

The sequence will be filmed on a helmet camera with a lot of movement from room to room. So I suppose I'll need and ultra wide lens w/ AF. I was looking at the Sigma 12-24mm. The Zeiss' 18mm is faster, but no auto-focus. I figure auto-focus will be necessary since I'll be moving quickly with the camera and unable to pull.

It might also be worth mentioning, I currently have a Zeiss 1.4/50mm currently on my 5d. Getting a ultra-wide Zeiss might be worth it, to be able to match the same look as my 50.

Is there something out there that won't exactly break-the-bank? Anyone have any experience with creating this sort of shot?

Auto focus will be a disaster as the focus jumps around all over the place.
Wide lens (28 or 24) stopped down to f11 or so. 50mm would actually probably look more "right" in approximating a human FOV, but wider will keep more in focus.

You don't need auto focus on a super wide lens. Even at f5.6-f8, I can keep the whole room in focus. Use your depth of view.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I was looking through a DOF chart as I was writing the message and was thinking that AF wouldn't be necessary as you guys suggested. I still feel a wider lens will give that sense of *being in the action* with a peripheral sort of vision. I've been checking out some youtube videos and they look very convincing. More and more. The only thing I worry about with the Sigma 12-24 is the amount of vignetting in some of these clips.

Don't go past f11..after that diffraction starts to occur making things look crappy. I generally don't past f9.

35mm 1.4. At f5.6 or higher number or 24mm 1.4 at the same aperture or higher number- this for optimal quality. Since its going to be mounted on a helmet, maybe the 24-105 IS at f 5.6 or more closed aperture would be ideal due to the image stabilizing- helps on the rolling shutter.
