GH2 Lens crop factor + 1:1 crop + Wide lens options

I'm a little lost on these features.

If I were to put a 14mm lens on the GH2, it already has a 2x crop factor correct? So an equivalent 35mm lens would be 28mm to match the field of view, correct?

Now with the 1:1 crop, these would change the field of view even more to 3x on top of the 2x, correct? So the 14mm now has a field of view of a 84mm?

So I'm looking for a lens with a 35mm field of view equivalent to something between the ranges of 12mm to 18mm. So a 6mm to 9mm with the initial crop factor, or a 2mm to 3mm with the 1:1 crop. Any suggestions? Looking for a lens faster than f3.5. So the Panasonic 7-14mm is out.

If you want a wide angle lens faster then f3.5 then check out some of the primes, the 14mm f2.5 pancake from Panasonic or if you have the $$ the new 12mm f2.0 from Olympus. There is also a fisheye 8mm out there.

And yes the field of view on a 14mm on the GH2 would be the same as a 28mm on a 35mm.

The 1:1 ETC mode is a telephoto feature, so if using it for wide angle you will be working against yourself. It's also more sensitive to poor lighting becuase it's noisier than using the full sensor. I suggest you use the full sensor with the 2x crop factor, in which case you need to find a lens in the 18mm range to have 35mm equivalent FOV.

Panasonic's 20mm pancake is by all accounts a superb lens, and not that expensive. THe 40mm equivalent FL is close to what you want.
Olympus has a 9-18mm zoom which is supposed to be very good, and on the exact focal length range you want.

Wait... wouldn't this have the same field of view then of a say a 40mm Ultra Prime? I want something with the same field/angle of view as a 14mm ultra prime. So 115 degrees Angle of View. The 40mm ultra prime has an angle of view of 57 degrees.

Math to get the 14mm field of view for 35mm:
2 * arctan(21.6 / 14) = 114.10157 degrees

Math to get the 40mm field of view for 35mm:
2 * arctan(21.6 / 40) = 56.7380926 degrees

Math to get the 20mm field of view for 4/3":
2 * arctan(16.9335 / 20) = 80.5075099 degrees

I don't think anyone makes anything faster than the Panasonic 7-14mm lens at the moment.

When you say 35mm FOV equivalent, I am assuming that you are referring to a 35mm Full Frame Still Photo camera, and NOT a 35mm motion picture film camera. ( Micro 4/3 is very close to the 35mm motion picture format so the focal lengths you would use are almost the same )

I'm actually referring to super 35.
If this is the case why is it a 2x crop? Shouldn't it be more like a 1.25x? If the sensor isn't all that different in size from super 35, what's with the 2x crop? Is the 2x referring to Full Frame 35mm lenses?

I'm curious because I was eventually hoping to put Zeiss Compact Primes on it, and was think I would get a 50mm field of view equivalent if I used the 25mm Compact Prime. What's my equivalent 50mm then, a 35mm?
