So here I am on Saturday, high up on an outdoor New York City Fire escape, with my DVX, shooting a scene for my next movie. It was early, so I got some sun blasting into my shots. (This was amongst trying to hold on for dear life with a tripod and cam).
Anyway, I cleaned the lens before I went out, but when I faced the sun, you could tell there were still little bits of dust on there, which were magnified once the sun went through them.
I have a UV filter on always, so I'm thinking that some dust might be trapped between the filter and the lens.
Question - how does one fix this? I'm paranoid about scratching the lens, so I've never cleaned it. I bought a microfiber cloth from B&H - can I just take off the UV and give both the lens and it a wipe?
Am I right in leaving the UV on all the time? I thought it was common to leave it on for protection, but does that mean my shots are coming out darker as a result?
