You might put that in your title if you still can. You should get more people who can reply.

I don't think many people know anything about that lens yet. AFAIK, it just started shipping this week in the US.

I would assume that it is decent, based on other recent Panasonic lenses. You could do a search and see if it has been out in Japan or anywhere else already.

Good luck!

C-Mount lenses for use in 4K mode. Kowa 6mm f1.8 is ultra wide and wider than anything in M4/3. Facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/cmountm43/

I have the 25mm f/1.4 and it is incredible. I also now have the 42.5mm f/1.7 and it's probably the nicest Panasonic lens I've tried. I will suggest that the 25mm f/1.7 will probably be a very nice lens if the quality is anything like the 42.5mm f/1.7

Cheers,
Pete

What kind of filter should I get to protect it?

I also have the 25/1.4 and have been very impressed by this lens

Well I got it and its alot smaller than I thought. Its all plastic with metal mount, lens shade ect. I did few tests of it against the 20mm 1.7 I rented a month ago.

A 25mm with the GH4 crop factor will make a nice portrait lens. To keep it wide open for maximum bokeh you might want to consider a variable ND filter. That way you can keep the shutter speed at 1/48 or 1/60 for 24p or 30p respectively.

Here's a nice shoot-out comparison of some options:
