Lens choice for shooting video indoors?

What is the best lens choice for shooting video indoors? I have a shoot coming up thats both indoors and outdoors. My last indoor shoot, my footage came out way to dark even though it looked fine in live view mode. I used the kit lens 18-105mm for that shoot. I think the ISO was set to around 200 so I may have needed to boost that up to 800 or more. I do have an on camera LED light to use as well. Any settings on the camera (Nikon D7000) to get better quality video that I should know about?

Thanks!

For the 2011 generation of DSLR's, ISO 800 is fine to use (some ISO 1250). For the D7000, should be ISO 800 max. Having said that, you would have been getting 2 more stops of light, so a faster lens may not be needed.

However a faster lens at F2.8 or even F1.4 would be better.

If you are shooting an event and there is no guarantee that you can get close to your subject then a 24-70 F2.8 would be good. However if you know you can get close to your subject then a faster prime at F1.4 would be ideal in case the lighting gets really dark.

In terms of FOV (focal lengths) you'd have to decide based on how you would like to tell the story.

Thanks for the suggestion about the ISO. I do have a 85mm 1.4 but I have never used it for video before. If I use that lens, I would need to allow enough space between me and the talent I am interviewing.
