Lego Dolly Shot

I wanted to get a shot from a rolling marble's perspective.

I built a miniature dolly out of some very old Legos.

You can see the test shot here: http://www.OffStageFilms.com

When this shot is done for the actual film, the real lighting, actors, sound, music, and better pacing will hopefully add to the final effect.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for all your guidance with the camera so far, I couldn't have done any of this without your help.

Re: Lego Dolly Shot

Nice Job...that shot alone has me eager to see more. Any way you can show us the Lego Dolly and how it pushed the marble? Also nice focus change. Even with the "no light" setup it's an attractive shot.

Re: Lego Dolly Shot

I will take some photos of the lego dolly this week-end and post them up.

In the end it really is embarrasingly easy to do, we were just pleased with how smooth it looked.

Re: Lego Dolly Shot

LOL. I've tried the same thing..built a really small and simple dolly to track super-close ups of objects resting on the carpet. It turned out mediocre. It's tough to get a constant pushing speed. I should have built it bigger and added more weight.

Funny enough I've dreamt about building a follow focus out of lego as well. I think it might work with all the gears and parts you can get with lego.
