From that site link that is a great price on the unbranded 576 LED (looks same as Ikan one). I've had my eye on these but find it hard to find reviews even of the branded Ikan 576 version.

Both are just like a same one. I don't have 576 led. But I got a 900 led from them. The quality is good. At least it's worth the money :)

I don't have any green in any of my Socanland LED's. I shopped around and tested a few models from colleagues before deciding on the Socanlands, these panels easily outmatched other panels in the price range. The panels were much brighter and I didn't that color shift that can happen in cheaper LED panels. The panels are advertised at 90+ CRI, but mine are actually closer to 93.

I have had these lights for almost a year now and as DP they get a lot of use. I have been really happy with their performance.

Ben, I second that. I also measured the CRI of my Socanland units using a Spectrometer. The lights came out to a 93. I can say that the unit I ordered in 2011 did have a bit of green to it (keep in mind 2011 was when LED's were just getting started in the video industry and all manufacturers had that issue in the beginning.). But Socanland improved their LED's and lights with each year. The 2011 Socanland came to a CRI of 88 on my Spectrometer. The newer Socanland lights that I ordered in 2013 & 2014 have a CRI of 93 with NO GREEN AT ALL. The Socanlands are fantastic, fantastic units. Accurate & beautiful color, tons of punch, solid metal build. Best bi-color LED light panels on the market (and I've seen them all, Litepanels, F&V, iKan, and the cheap lights out there). Couldn't be happier with them.

Here are the Socanlands lights that I own and am currently shooting with:

1. Socanland 50CTD 1'X1' Bi-Color LED Light Panel: http://www.intellytechusa.com/collections/led-light-panels/products/socanland-50ctd-1x1-bi-color
2. Socanland NOVA-CTD, HIGH-POWER 1x1 Bi Color LED Light Panel, 100W: http://www.intellytechusa.com/colle...ts/nova-ctd-1x1-bi-color-led-light-panel-100w

Has anyone used the Yongnuo YN600? I'm after some cheap panels with the ability to be both battery and AC powered, and if it's anything like my YN300, it would be perfect. I have, however, heard that the fan on it is too loud for quiet scenes. Already own an AL528W, and hate it.

I have the YN 600 and love it for what it costs. I also have the Aputure Amaran 528S and would buy the YN 600 over it if I need an extra light. Although the 528S claims a higher lux value, my testing shows the YN 600 is brighter than the 528S and at least twice as bright as the 528W or the YN 300 (which I also have some of). In fact, I'm seriously looking at e-baying my YN 300 and 528S and picking up another couple of the YN 600s.

The fan noise is something you won't hear unless you run the light at full power or you're in a really warm room. For me, it takes about 20-22 minutes for the fan to come on (at full power) in a room at 20˙C.

Running at 95% takes longer (more than an hour), but I've never had it come on when running at 90% power, so as long as I keep it to 90% or less I'm good to go. How much difference is there between 90% and 100%? Not enough to worry about, not even a third of a stop.

Having the barn doors makes it much easier to put some diffusion gel in front by clipping it to the barn doors using some C47s. This gets the gel far enough away from the LEDs that is appears as a single light instead of 600 individual lights. The diffuser that comes with it is just as useless as the 528 diffuser because it sits too close, but getting some gel and clipping to the barn doors works well enough.

The power adapter is a standard fit, but this light does not charge the batteries while being externally powered. If you only have one battery the YN 600 will run on half (alternate) LEDs so you're effectively running as a YN 300 but with a large light source.

Thanks, I'll pick one up. I find that my YN300 is actually brighter than my 528W. Issues with flicker and the wide angle bulbs that it has cast multiple shadows if the source is very close to the panel. Still, it came with an unbelievable amount of extras and can be used as a charger, so I'm keeping it nonetheless.

I will concur that the Socanland 1'x1' battery operated panels are quite nice. We rented them for this teaser I filmed last month. Pretty impressive amount of light for over 4 hours on a single charge with the v-mount batteries.

Which model did you use, the Nova or the 50CTD?

I'm assuming they were the 50CTD as they were the bi-color.

Pretty sure it was this one http://socanland.com/Product.aspx?id=56 but it also had the digital readout for color temp.

Unfortunately I didn't write down exactly what they were before returning them. In any case they were my first experience with LED panels in the wild and I was quite impressed (not that it takes much, as I'm quite the newbie :) )

:Da little distance of diffuser can change light, are you sure you are photographer? My god, YN600 shows the clear stepped spot when having the barn door , it is useless light! If you want to see stair on face of girl, just use Yongnuo light. When you adjust the brightness, the light color temperature will be changed over 400K. I have doubts about your post.

Got my YN600, and the fan really is unbearably loud. Haven't used it on an actual shoot yet, but I imagine this would prove to be a problem and make the light pretty much unusable.
