Lectrosonics Service Question

Hello

I have a couple (several years old) Lectrosonics CR 185 wireless receivers with M 185 transmitters. They just don't seem to perform as well as they used to - mainly an issue with more dropouts and less range. Will these sytems, over time, have signal drift (for lack of a better technical term)? And, does anyone know if this is just a matter of calibration or more specifically, re-calibration or servicing by Lectrosonics?

Any advice offered would be greatly appriciated.

Jeff

Most likely it's the crystal that is out-of-spec and needs a new calibration at Lectrosonics HQ. Highly suggest you to call them up and talk with their friendly support. I've got upwards of 30+ channels of Lectros and once-in-awhile they need re-servicing due to this issue.

Alan,

Thanks so very much for your prompt reply. Again, as in the past, this forum has helped me.

Cheers, Jeff

I'm very surprised. They're always held up to be the ultimate in quality radio - yet need regular servicing? I've never had crystal problems since the early 1990s! Sennheiser G1,2 and 3 all stable - and pretty well abused. Same with the Trantecs and Shures. The only radio issues I've ever had were on the displays on Trantecs - which often lost segments of the display. I always though the use of PLLs meant frequency drift was history!

Lectro no longer 'directly' repairs some of the older systems. (including the 185)
"NOTICE OF SERVICE POLICY CHANGE: Effective April 1, 2009, Lectrosonics will no longer offer factory repair services for the following product lines:
190 Series (UCR190, UR190, UM190, UM190B, UH190, etc.)
195 Series (UCR195, UCR195D, UDR195, UR195, UM195, UM195B, UH195, etc.)
185 Series (CR185, DR185, R185, M185, H185, T185, etc.)"

However they have a USA authorized service center.

Been there, done that. I used Jaycee in NY.

Some of the 'usual suspect' location audio shops repair them as well.
