FYI Adobe just updated everything to CC 2017 status.
Cool. So in another 12 months or so it should be stable enough to safely upgrade, right as they bring out CC2018!

Wrong, you can have all versions of Premiere Pro installed at the same time. There has never been such limit that limits the user to only have one or max two versions installed.Scott F, unless something has changed, I believe Adobe will only let you stay on a version of CC for so many versions back (or a certain time back) and then they will make you upgrade to a newer version.
So eventually you'll have to move up. Is 2 the limit? I forget....
Another reason I don't like the cloud.
I hear you about not wanting to "rock the boat". I'm on a Mac pro 3,1 2.8 eight core, 16gb Ram, ATI Radeon 5770 running PP 2015.3 on El Capitan. In fact, I just upgraded to El Capitan hoping it would be stable enough in PP but I have found a few little quirks. Like for instance there has been some weirdness with some audio tracks not containing audio in my timeline and some quirky peak file/waveform behavior, as in waveforms are taking forever to show up or don't at all. Also, some sluggish behavior... Anyway, my Mac Pro was misbehaving lately (I think it was a problem with a usb 3.0 card I installed) and I was pricing new Macs and being on a budget it was very depressing, to say the least, to find a non-prosumer mac at a decent price :/Oh hi, thanks for the response. No....I can I suppose. I just didn't want to push the updates based on the age of the computer & compatibility.
Right now I have both the original PP2015 and the the updated version 15.3. I find my system just isn't up to snuff or maybe it's just not as compatible with the OS when cutting in 15.3. Some projects I'm working on were prone to crashing/lagging ect. PP2015 seems to move more seamlessly. (I made the moronic mistake of upgrading mid-project in one instance)
To really answer your original question, I have held off on upgrades based on this thread
Not sure if they've hammered things out, that thread seemed like just yesterday in my mind...I guess the lesson I'm learning right now is the older you get, the faster time flies!!! (AND/OR Apple is banging out new operating systems at a ridiculous pace)
As always, if you're using PP on a Mac, I'd love to hear your current setup & Operating System of choice. And my other question still stands: anyone delved into '17 yet?
Wrong, Adobe is not forcing you to upgrade and there is no time limit that limits you to have a certain version only for a limited period of time. There has never been.No what I meant was that you couldn't stay on just an older version of CC and not move up. Like if I was using the first version of CC and I liked it so I refused to upgrade to a newer version. CC 2014 comes out then 2015.x and I still want to stay on the one one that is several versions back. There is a limit how long you can sit on a version , either time or # of versions back before you have to upgrade right? That's what I meant. Sorry about the way I said it. Hope that makes more sense.
