LEAP (An End Times Feature)

I do, but I don't share it with anyone. Everything on there is from when I was fresh out of school seven years ago to about four years ago when I made my last short.

There is a lot in common here. I enjoyed seeing Brandon's movies on his youtube channel and I sense that El is also caught up in the early years of finding his voice, his vision. And Nathyn is already at the point of breaking out. It's great to be young and a filmmaker.

It takes time; there is no rushing it. I see myself in you guys. I wish I could help, but the technology has changed the way we make movies and it's hard to share knowledge because the language has changed.

This is an interesting film. I'd like to know how he got that smooth slowmo in some of the scenes. There's definitely an audience for the film. There's so much in this film that I'm saying in some of my upcoming films. I'll give him credit for this, there's a scene where he makes basic Pakour over handrails look quite interesting.

The slow-mo was done 100% in Vegas. I set my little Canon camera to sports mode if I knew it was going to be slow (like the jump at the end) and the rest was in Vegas. Hope you liked it.

I did actually. It reminds me a lot of "The Fourth Beast" my first film. There's a lot to work on, but you did create and interesting and compelling story. This is what was said a lot about my film. I didn't understand what people meant until really taking a look at my film and pro films. I did much better in Wages. Also, you had decent sound. I could hear all the dialogue. It could've been evened a little more in some parts, but parts of my film came out in audible because I didn't have the ability to do ADR. I do now but didn't then. Also you got a great look for your film. I like the basic DVD menu. Everything was simple and packed a wallop. Good work. Also did you do a DVD-5 or 9, because you got a lot on there. I loved your behind the scenes stuff too.

By the way, I love your testimony about how you came to creating "Leap". When I was going to make "The Fourth Beast" I wanted to make a martial arts action film about the end times. I likened it to "Left Behind" on steroids. And I prayed about it and was lead to the same conclusions you were. I actually ended up reading "End Time Delusions" (Which I'm sure you know about, in fact I gave it a shout out in the film). And wanted to get as much info on it as possible. I to am non-denominational even though, I'm a "Baptist" I don't believe in the divisions. In my film (and in Divinity) I also stress reading the Bible as well as the Matthew 24 breakdown.

Ironically a friend of mine said my film was "off scripture" but in fact it was what totally on scripture. I was quoting from the Bible, how much more on could I be? LOL. But yes, the information does need to get out. I hope you keep making these and that they keep getting better and better. I did enjoy this film overall. I also like your film look. You probably could've played around with the gamma a bit more but it looked nice. By the way, I used Celtix also. I used to do Final Draft.

By the way, I know you like horror films, you know there are "Christian" horror films right. One of the issues in horror films is rarely are any of the characters Godly. It's something to think of.

Yep, I have (and have read) End Times Dellusions. Steve Wohlberg (the author) lives just an hour away from me, so I've had a chance to meet him (even had him sign my copy of the book) =) I'm going to see if I can get him to endorse Leap 2.

LOL, he has a copy of "The Fourth Beast" too. I give a shout out to him and Jan Marcussen in the credits. I used "National Sunday Law" for research too which for some reason I had laying around my house since I was a child, but had never paid it much attention until I started researching this project. My mom came in one day and said, "Hey, this book is like the story you're writing," and that book was, "National Sunday Law".

I was like, "Where did you get this?"

She said, "It's been here for years. I just saw it and decided to read some of it."

These are the stories that make people think we're nuts, but their true stories and can't all be coincidences. That's why I love your film commentary. I didn't talk about it in mine, but in the film we had decent sound, except for the part where we talk about the Bible prophesies and the mark. For some reason we only got audio from the camera mic (channel 2 audio) but none from the line in.

It turns out there was a break in the cord, but it was internal so there was no way we could have known as the onboard mic was picking up audio from both channels so we thought everything was fine (the external mic was channel 1 audio). When you talked about what happened in your editing I was shocked. It's always that part about Mathew 24 where things go wrong. We did fix it up best we could and it could be heard (I have a theory about that and believe you were on point about it being the "truth" versus what we're taught to believe), but yes, I believe in praying over the equipment, especially in editing. I'm pleased to report we had trouble free edits so far so, I'm hoping for that to continue.

Because people keep asking to see it after they see Rise of the Beast, I've uploaded this film online as well. If you haven't seen part two, all I ask is that if you make it through this one, you go watch the second. It's a much better film. If you like the charm of movies like Flywheel, you'll probably enjoy this one.
One of the reasons why I agreed to upload the movie is that I want people to see the improvement made from Leap to Leap 2. Both movies had no crew, and I wore all the hats. So what changed? I learned :)

I just wanted to give a few updates. Leap currently has almost 34,000 views on youtube, while Leap 2 has 130,000. We've developed a bit of a fan base that is looking forward to the third and final film. I can't wait :)
