FEATURE: Leap: A Tale of the Last Days ($20,000 Feature)

Many of you know that I've been working on this for over fifteen years. I completed the film earlier this year, and signed with Indie Rights to get it out there. It's been on Amazon and Tubi for the last six months, and as of tonight, YouTube for FREE!
The live premiere starts soon, I'll be in the chatbox answering questions.

How do you feel it’s going? I have been watching the rapid rise of views over the last few days. I’m impressed.

I wonder, what do you think is a % breakdown of viewers that you brought to the movie compared to what indie rights brought to the movie? They have a lot of subscribers but your first movie ‘Leap’ has a lot of views and you also have a bunch of subscribers.

Thank you for sharing your journey on DVXUser. It’s been great to follow along.

Congrats on finishing a passion project and getting a distribution deal! No matter what else happens now, you did that, and it's the longtime dream of DVXuser.

I couldn't be happier at the moment. I think having Indie Rights put it on their channel was a smart move. They have over 2000 titles and I think that the algorithm rewards that. If I had uploaded it to mine, it would be much slower going. It took my last film almost two years to reach what this one has done in a matter of days.

One of the things I'm really loving about YouTube is that I understand this platform and I can get almost instant feedback. With streaming, all the data that I get is six months behind the way the cycles and quarters work out. With YouTube, I can see the changes instantly.

Thanks David! Now that I've finally wrapped this up, I'm ready to do something tailored for the streaming markets that will turn a profit.

"Leap" was obviously a passion project that I've been working on for 15 years. It's my artsy fartsy film with a message and I didn't care if I make anything off of it or not. From a technical standpoint, it turned out better than expected. My wife and I were talking and started to consider making a film for around $20K that will go straight to streaming like this one. Forget the festivals and all that, let's make something good, and that plays to the streaming crowd. Let's design the entire concept to maximize streaming revenue.

My previous films have all been passion projects, so I want to see what happens if I make a film with my end goal of making money in mind from the start.

That's exciting! Re making something good to maximise streaming revenue, do you have anything in mind?

I'm messing around with a few ideas at the moment, nothing concrete yet. I know that thrillers can do well, but that seems over saturated. I have heard that they're looking for action movies right now, so I've got some ideas for that too. I think that the key is to maximize what I can bring to the table in order to keep the budget low but the production value high. I've come to accept that parkour won't be the best for that, but I have a background in Kenpo, so I might run with that. If you've ever seen "The Perfect Weapon", that's Kenpo. I also haven't seen a lot of good, low budget action films, so it would really come down to the script.
