The Z mount is 2mm larger than the EF mount.

I like the top layout: mode wheel on the left and LCD screen on the right. But that screen was more useful on DSLRs than on a camera that already shows you all that info in the viewfinder. The two front buttons are nice too. The rest of the layout doesn't look that different from what Sony is doing. Let's see what Nikon does to try to convince people that their camera is actually better than the Sonys...

Still not sure about the memory card slots.

It's definitely loaded...it will be interesting to see how well AF, IBIS and N-Log work.

what about...?

24fps
dual card slots
codec specs in camera
face detection
subject and face tracking in video
battery life with only camera batt
how responsive is the EVF
power up time and wake from sleep time
how good is the FTZ adaptor

10-bit 422 N-log is the big news for me here, but it's only through HDMI, and there's no 4k 60fps, so I think I'll just get the p4k. It's a smaller sensor but it shoots internal RAW, and it forces me to focus manually but it doesn't seem the Nikons will do the kind of uber-awesome eye-detect AF that could make me forget about RAW video.

I’m semi interested.

Nikon menus.
No need for speed booster
Two mountpoints with lens adapter
I think Af will be better than gh4/5/Eva
Decent output into shogun maybe.
XQD like my fs7
Stabilise might be handy

Stills
Possible high flash
Jpg to social

Not impressed by the video quality in this clip here at all:

The last two log clips one can clearly see the application of a LOOK/LUT/GRADE forces clipping - which I assume to be entirely user error in the colour room.

It does not put me off (or amaze me)

That doesn't look good at all to me: plenty of nasty highlights, from beginning to end. But the un-graded vs graded comparisons at the end hint to this being a result of the grade, not the original footage. No idea why they graded it like that (maybe it was a direct nlog-to-rec709 LUT?) but you'd have the choice to work with it differently if you don't want that final look.

SO.

I guess my thinking is ..

1) will this work as a small camera for running and gunning.

I have a dislike of my GH4 - Ive never 'felt' it.

Nikon could..
Simplify lensing.
Attaches well to a tripod plate.
Doubtless good to 3200 ISO
AF may work well enough to make some difference compared to wandering AF which is actually a major hinderance.
Viewfinder might be nice.
120 FPS is enough to handhold a long lens.

Downsides..
No ND (at least with 100ISo this is less bad than base 800 cameras)
Possible rolling shutter
Possible bad menu dig to engage HFR
Possible Weak image.. but 144mps is enough to deliver HD IMO.
Still cant really see a way of supporting it on the shoulder

3) Franken rig /gimbal camera.
Might be interesting with shogun, but now sure that it would offer much from my FS7
AF might work well enough for gimbal.

Price comparison:

The Z6 costs about the same as the very similar a7 III
The Z7 costs $400-$600 more than the very similar a7R III

The 24-70mm f/4 is $1000 on the Nikon and $800 on the Sony
The 50mm f/1.8 is $600 on the Nikon and $200-$800 on the Sony (50mm-55mm)
The 35mm f/1.8 is $600 on the Nikon and weirdly enough doesn't have a counterpart on the Sony camp; the 85mm f/1.8 is $550, let's compare it to that one

Great features from Nikon but comes short, a single card slot renders this camera for amateurs and consumers rather than professionals. Cards will fail sooner or later and if you are getting paid to capture video or photos you better be recording to a dual card system. Sony still rules, will wait to see what Canon has in store next month but Nikon is not a serouis contender for me at this point.
