LEAKED: CANON EOS M50, 4k

Sub $1k, 4k video, , 5 axis stabilization and dual pixel. If true this will be the budget camera to beat in 2018.

Canon will find a way to screw it up. Such as - Leaked specs say 4K tops out at 24/25P. Hopefully that's wrong. I can't buy a camera that doesn't shoot at least 30P in 4K.

Hopefully the low-light performance is competitive, akin to the C-100. Not sure how they could leave out 4k 30fps

4k/60p would be nice but very unlikely for this price range. Still with above specs it's going to be great for run and gun as a b-cam.

It will also have bad DR and a poor codec. I don't expect anything from Canon hybrid cameras anymore.

Frankly when I want high DR I have to step it up in budget. I wanted to buy the GH5 but didn't because of it's poor auto focus performance. I need solid auto focus for run and gun. What attracts me to this camera is 4k with dual pixel, lets hope though that the crop is not outrageous.

The fact that the C200 had RAW kinda indicates that Canon has decided to get a bit more aggressive with their products, and this camera seems like it too considering how much better the specs look than the EOS M5. I hope we're not too far away from a good mirrorless high end camera from Canon. I want something that can be a B-Cam to my C200 without having to be as big as a 1dx II.

I hear that...and that would be the best thing to ever happen to this industry because that's when the fun would really start.

I think there's a lot of that going around. Budget cameras are starting to look interesting, and so are post tools.

This might be the most interesting NAB in a few years :)

And the fact that they left out 10-bit 422 kinda indicates they are going to continue to intentionally cripple, protect, and segment their cameras. I wouldn't expect much from this new EOS-M.

At least Canon's products are solid at launch, rather than treating early adopters as beta testers. That is my biggest criticism of Adobe - the fact that every new release just seems to bring more problems and headaches, and the development team seems to be putting more effort into new features for the next release rather than making the current one stable.

Adobe is mostly run by marketers. Marketers like new whiz-bang features to make fancy presentations for. :)

Premiere Pro CC 2018 crashed in one week more than CC2017 did in a whole year. I don't know what changes they made, but they need to address these problems before we start migrating to resolve or another software.

Just a friendly reminder, this is Canon and this is a rumor. Everybody wants Canon to "get in the game" so to speak but they do not budge. What they did with their C-line has nothing to do with what they will do with their lower priced lines. One thing that is a certainty: it will be another camera...

It's actually kind of comical that people aren't already migrating in droves. You get to save money, have actual color grading tools, it's a LOT faster than Premiere (doesn't hold a candle to Scratch, which is bind moggling), and best of all, no conforming. :)

Personally what's holding me is making time to learn resolve, second I like how premiere is linked to after effects and photoshop. But if this crashing business doesn't stop it might force people like me to make the time to learn resolve and migrate.
