Le marché de la Croix-Rousse : zoom 14-140 + AF100

I agree. Cine-D and the 14-140 seem to have this problem with highlight-roll-off. have seen it in other clips also. I also find the faces a bit too pink.

there are some clips out there that look better, but this cam aparently needs a lot of care when choosing lenses and settings.

Sorry, Woody, the shots are nice, we only discuss the technical side ;-)

I might be killed here, but damn it is a blown highlight fest. In such low contrast lighting it blows that much?

I completely agree. Cine D is probably the worst setting. It was a pain to shoot and edit because the lattitude is very poor. Everything was too dark or highlight, hard to find a good "in-between" with strong contrast. Same problem with skin tones.
Also, colors are wired. I felt it changed with different ND filters like my old dvx100!

I thought the stuff looked quite nice.

Perhaps the entire video is slightly over exposed, maybe by half a stop or so. Regarding the blowouts, yeah, they will blow out, but a simple curve in post fixes the transition to clipping right up. And as long as your are properly white balanced, blowouts should not exhibit chroma blowout.

Delighted to see again my old good Marché de la Croix-Rousse being a child of this incredible moody and beautiful historical quarter of Lyon. !!!!

I disagree somehow on the Cine-D criticism worded in this thread. Closely watching the Vimeo footage, I don't feel that the Cine-D gamma was the worst choice. Actually, I think it was performing better than expected. My main concern is rather the crunched blacks, which could have benefited from checking the DSR 1 or 2 option in the Scene File. Noise in the Vimeo version of the footage was absolutely tolerable. I would also have lowered the overall detail to -5, and skewed the white balance toward yellow in order to avoid crimson skin tone in the bluish winter light of Lyon.

Avoiding blowing highlight seems to be a tougher job with the AF100 than with the EX1 and 5d (my humble opinion).

really liked the music after the 2min mark.. I'm guessing the pink faces were a result of the freezing weather and not so much your setting choice. nice : )

I have adjusted my Af101 Iris setting to -3 to underexpose by 1/2 a stop as my pictures seemed to be consistently a bit hot.

Yes, we French have a chroma imbalance skewing toward crimson, especially in the Beaujolais region... Probably we'll have to use a specially designed matrix in our AF100s when covering elderly noses and cheeks of those bons vivants :-)

i'm working on it ! "Beaujolais Matrix" + "wine curve" = best settings ever made.

12M pixels is huge even for a 4/3p sensor. CineLikes also change latitude.
