Le clip a la HDR

This again. I personally love it. I saw it a few days ago. Went crazy trying to find out, the closest I got was between a photoshop plugin called topaz adjust 4, and a beam splitter rig using two cameras, one set to overexpose, and one to underexpose. Software interpolates both. The term 'tone mapping' came up several times. Still trying to figure it out. I'm stunned by this video. Other HDR stuff has looked gimmicky to me, but this is ridiculous.

That video, I didn't see. Very helpful. Waiting for that full project. the thing to watch for is the original image. Nothing is clipped either white or black. I'm thinking HDR beam splitter rig, or unbelievable lighting.

Not done with 2 cameras. Its a plug in. The Lens flare is probably Video Copilot's Optical Flares. I'm doing similar effects oin stills right now in Lightroom with a single (albeit still) using HDR EFEX PRO. There are a couple other plug-ins that can be used Topaz Adjust. I don't believe they work with Premiere or AE. You'd have to export as jpeg or tiff sequences then batch process every frame. Would be time consuming.

I'd love to hear how it was really done. Very impressive.

Red has a feature that shoots 48 frames a second. alternating between Normal exposure, and I believe 2 stops over. Then their software combines them like HDR. A great way to get detail in your shadows without complicated lighting. It would be great if that process could be implemented in the GH-2.

What I'd recommend, DL the clip. Load a couple frames of the ungraded part, and try the different plug-ins until you get a match.

That's a damn good idear. I'ma do it.

I read about RED's process, but with fast movements there would be edge issues i imagine. I saw the soviet montage videos, they use a beam splitter. The ungraded files in this look very hdr, as in no clip. I'm sure I can find a way to grade as finish off that file, but it's a question for me of how to get the ungraded file to look like that off camera. I'm thinking mad crazy lighting. Like a lot of it, and would be tricky to bump shadows that close to highlight and not lose the shadows.

I don't know. I will try. I haven't read about any video plugins, but honestly was looking at how beam splitter rigs work. I was counting on saving the action or whatever the process is in photoshop. Time I have, this is a look I'll adopt for my projects. Won't dare think about being productive with it until I have it down.

Well, I took a couple frames as JPG, brought one into Photomatix 4, played with the HDR setting got a nice result not the same. I was able to bring out those white highlight in his hair. I can save a preset. I know you can have Photomatix run a batch on a folder of files. Would take a long time. Then just load them in After Effects or what ever and rerender them in mp4.

for precision, do not speak about HDR when speaking about pictures you can see or display
The eye is no able to see an hdr picture neither is a screen able to display it.
what you can see is a tone mapped picture ,could be done from HDR, but also from only one picture.
the purpose of all of that being to get same level of detail either in dark or bright part of the picture.
