LCD to black&white?

Hi folks,
I am planning a shoot with the dvx100, the original model, and our footage will be converted to b&w in post. Is there a way to have the flip out lcd show the image in b&w during shooting. I was thinking this would help in framing and evaluating the lighting etc.

also...

Is there any advice any of you can offer on how to set the camera to capture deeper blacks - I've read a little about adjusting the master ped - am I on the right track?

Any help appreciated,
Eduardo

Check out the master ped review at the top of the home page. and yes you are on the right track. As far as I know there is not any way to set your LCD / eyepiece to B+W.

Re: LCD to black&white?

Perhaps you could bring along a cheap black 'n' white television and hook it up through the composite video port...

Re: LCD to black&white?

What about bringing along a normal tv and adjust it to see it black and white

Thanks Guys,
Yeah we planned to go with the tv's on the location days - I guess we'll be referencing a colour image on the days we are on the move doing exteriors.

Re: LCD to black&white?

Hi there,
I prefer Black and white myself and although the Original DVX100 doesn't have a B/W option on the viewfinder all you have to do is adjust the LCD colour down to zero.

DISPLAY SETTINGS
LCD/EVF Set
LCD COLOUR LEVEL

Well Ok so it doesnt reduce to zero but you can reduce it to a level where so little colour is present it appears black and white.

I used to do a lot of B/W photography and prefer to compose with it.

I hope this is usefull. 8)

Re: LCD to black&white?

Thanks for the tip. I had never looked at that setting before. The image goes to almost full desaturation. This is going to make things alot easier for us. Thanks again.
