GH4 LCD screen cuts out during filming

So I trying to learn how to use this camera, and I take it outside and start panning, and the LCD screen cuts out, comes back, cuts out again. Brand new camera.

What's going on?
 
Make sure you don't have the EVF light sensor on. It's a feature where it switches to the EVF when you put your eye to it, but it can be fooled by a shadow, or a hand or thumb inadvertently covering it. Hit the Fn5 button to turn it off and cycle through the viewfinder options.
