LCD on camera suddenly not working, viewfinder is

Hey folks, my HPX500 is a few months old, lightly used. Hadn't used it for a few weeks, when last night setting up for a shoot, turned camera on and LCD screen wouldn't turn on in camera mode, nor vtr mode. The viewfinder worked, and filmed through that, and footage was there. Wondering if I hit some switch by accident (though I couldn't find a switch on the body) that turned the LCD off. Never had this problem before, hoping it's just user-error. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Thanks Barry. I just did another thorough search on the camera, hitting every switch. No 'standby' switch, but I found one called "Save" and switched that to 'on' and, well, it worked. Thanks for the help!

That happened to me a few weeks ago. No idea what the save switch is for. I didn't figure it out for several days, and then randomly found it. I thought I was going to have to send my 2 month old 500 back in already for repairs!

Ah, "save" and not "standby" -- sorry, could have saved you a few moments' searching if I'd remembered the right name!

The "save" switch is actually very useful if you're working on a tripod... I usually hand-hold, so I was unimpressed with a switch taking up room in a critical place on my camera... until yesterday.

I was shooting a long interview on a tripod in an awkward place where it was inconvenient to be at the finder all the time.. with the save switch I could go back and forth from the finder to the LCD without having to open and close the LCD to save power...

Yeah, that switch has sent momentary terror through my brain. Simple fix, but it can scare the heck out of you.
