FS7: LCD Horizontal Fix?

Does anyone have a fix to keep the LCD from tilting? I find that while shooting it can drift and can cause you to shoot at an angle ha
Any suggestions?

Yes this is really starting to piss me off! Who designs a viewfinder with such a useless system? It's nearly impossible not to tilt it sideways and screw your horizon and the little level guide in the EVF only helps so much. At some point it just gets old to have to keep redoing it. I only have the camera for a week but it has annoyed me to the point of making me consider buying a real viewfinder, since the LCD itself is also not the best. But then you also want to buy a new shoulder system because the stock one is not that good and when you realize, the $8000 deal is not so good anymore because it's looking more like $10000 or $13000 or even $15000. It was supposed to be the camera ready to shoot out of the box.

Anybody found any workarounds to lock the sucker in place?

I haven't had that much of a problem - when I adjust the viewfinder after taking the camera out of the case I just line it up with the level in the EVF and then lock the viewfinder tight - seems to stay in place and level (EVF level line stays green)

Use this for the VF attachment rod.
the stock sony piece has one tension adjustment that works on both axis at the same time.
Stupid.
the Zacuto unit allows you to keep the VF level when you adjust the up/down and is the way it should really be.

EDIT - the piece posted earlier in the thread from small rig does the same thing - at a much cheaper price.
I used the Zacuto piece because I had one sitting around...

Dosn't the clamp "click" into grooves on the 15 rod of the EVF in your camera? Mine does just that and because of that it stays leveled.

The point of the small rig peioce is that you have separate tension screw for tilt and level and that allows you to really yank down on the tilt. It works fine IMHO.

Simply round rods turn in round holes - as established in the early middle ages or maybe the stone age.

Ive binned the top handle and all of that junk, replaced with flats and rosettes so everything is held correctly perpendicular

There is totally a QC issue. I feel like I'm one of the few who has a properly functioning rod clamp.

Take off the Sony rod clamp. Look inside it. Notice there are two pins, these are spring loaded:

These fit into the grooves on the EVF rod. For some people, these aren't sticking through the holes properly, so they aren't engaging the grooves on the rod. When it's loose, it won't spin freely, but with a little bit of force, you can rotate it:

If yours isn't working like this, contact Sony.

I've not had a single problem with this happening. Perhaps there's a QC issue with the rod and clamp?

My suspicion is that on some units the grooves don't "click" properly every 90 degrees. For some reason when I first got it I did not even notice or hear that they are suppose to click into place. Could be that the clamp doesn't always work or maybe the mechanism gets stuck.

I saw another guy's clamp in person, and we pulled out the pins.. it looked like the holes drilled into his clamp weren't quite as deep as mine, which meant the little pins stopped short. So yes, his weren't engaging on the grooves in the rod.

I just got mine a few days ago and mine has the locking pins working. Maybe the older models weren't drilled far enough? Mine looks like that video Josh posted.
