LCD Hood

Hello Listers,

Given that the HMC40 has a touch screen, a hood for the LCD is going to be problematic. Does anyone have a product suggestion? I suppose it needs to not too deep and very easy to remove. In any kind of bright light, I really need something.

TIA

i think a hood that only covers the top and left side should be good....last time i used gaffing tape to cover the edge of the LCD leaving the bottom of the LCD exposed (there is no sun coming from the ground) and i didn't find it at all too hard to use the LCD, besides getting my finger stuck on the tape from time to time...i cna't imagine how annoying it should be to have an all-around cover for it.

I ended up getting one of the small Hoodmans and cutting on it with tin snips. It has a new "custom" look to it, but works real well.

I got a similar 2.7" hood to the one Felipe linked to above - just £10 from Amazon UK (via a reseller). It's a brand called "JJC" but it looks to be identical to the Canon one.

It's good, sturdy, and has a good shade on it, so when I next get some sun (a rare thing in Ireland!) I will try it out.

The only drawback is the bottom edge makes it difficult but not impossible to access the LCD buttons. I might follow Grant's example and get the scissors out, when it's this cheap it doesn't matter!

Canon's version looks better made, in fact is very well made, I can use the lcd menu button very easy, beside you can use the remote control, lanc, touch screen, and camera buttons
