Lcd flip switch broken :(

Hey guys,

I recently broke my lcd switch which is located behind the plastic covering over the joint the connects the lcd to the camera.

The reason this happened is because i poke a pin in order to force activate the flipping of the image, i do this because i need to be able to flip everthying right side up, because my 35mm adapter flips everything upside-down.

But i was on a shoot and someone closed the lcd onto the pin and it broke the switch.

Does anyone know how to replace / fix the switch. anyone have this happen before? how much will it cost to fix? Anyone here that i can send it to, or a reference to send it to?

Thanks for the help

p.s. i can provide pictures, i just havent taken any yet.

sorry to hear that.
you must of been useing like a hard clip/pin or something.
I always use like a wire so even if I forget about it and close the lcd it will only bend.

well if you live around the LA are there are EVS or Samy's camera and they can do repair (which I never done, so you might want to call them first)
I've got adds in the mail before from Keh and they seem to do repair as well so you might want to check them out.

well have you taken a look inside the flip by the way??
the cap comes off pretty easy and if the hing thing is only broken, I would just put something to hold and put the cap back on and keep it like that.
because I'm sure a repair would cost lots of $$$

Hmm ya ill have to inspect the switch a little further, but it seems like the whole switch was broken off, so it may need to be replaced completely, but ill play with it.

anyway, do you know the numbers for those repair shops? i have had this problem before but it was also tied in with another problem, so i wasn't ever sure how much just the lcd part will be to fix. Furthermore i have been ripped off multiple times by a shop in NYC and they were feeding me bullshi@# right to my face about how the lcd needed to be completely removed in order to get the small cover that is on the hinge haha which is so untrue since i take it off all the time. anyway, what im getting at is i have bad experience with repair shops, so it would be nice if someone could direct me to a trusting shop.

thanks again for all the help!

if you live in NYC why don't you got to B&H?

people do try to rip you off if you just say to repair it. but try to be more specifit about it.
tell them you know the hinge is just chiped and you want that replaced. not the entire lcd.
and always get an estimated price before hand.
