LCD flex cable

my LCD works, but when swiveled 90 degrees, the backlight turns off. However, I can still barely see an image. checked with United Camera repair and they said it may be the LCD flex cable, which would be $279 for repairs... Is this something i can do myself? anyone familiar with this

Probably. Make sure to get a service manual so you don't do anything wrong. Work in a tray so you don't lose screws. If the cable is actually damaged there's nothing you can do, but it could just be that it's dislodged itself a little, which is an easy fix as long as you take it slow.

Check on ebay, there is a fellow that sells Panasonic shop manuals on CD real cheap. Covers a lot of cameras all in one CD.
