Im a new dvx owner and today i was testing out some shots and noticed when i use the lcd it will look good but then close it and look at the viewfinder and its all dark? Why would they be that different??

Thanks, Blake

There are separate settings for the EVF and the LCD, and you should go through (as jambredz says) and set them so they're giving you a reasonably accurate representation of your image.

Well adjusting the EVF and using ur zebras is pretty easy. I think there's a way to calibrate ur lcd then u just match the evf. Don't quote me on that though...I'm not sure. Barry can answer u on that. From there it doesn't get any easier, meaning unless ur gonna lug around a laptop with a program like abode on location or the like and use waveform and vectorscopes then I think that's ur only bet. I don't hav a prob with the lcd and matching it to the viwefinder. When I play it back on my crt tv its a bits a bit more saturated than what's on the lcd, but I have gotten used to that and can approximate how saturated it will look. Its funny cuz on the laptop I edit with its way less saturated than the dvx lcd. So yah? Which on is right? The only way ur gonna know in editing is getting a broadcast monitor as a reference.

Also depending on what angle u have the lcd the colour maybe darker or lighter than the evf...so try looking on the lcd dead on cuz that's the best viewing angle and check ur evf and go from there.

Plug your DVX into a CRT TV and then mess with the settings for the LCD until they match, then have the VF and LCD on and match them...
