lcd calibration

I just had a quick look through Barry Green's HVX Bootcamp DVD for the first time, and he briefly mentions calibrating the LCD screen using the bars.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Cynic. I don't really know man. I've heard of the full CTB up against the screen or your eye method. Then I have also purchased Glenn Chan's DVD (VASST) on CC in Vegas, and he seemed to use, from memory, CTB gel, combined with a certain sheet of magenta gel. I've done my head in trying to calibrate my Dell 2405. I don't know much about the THX glasses. If like 3D glasses, probably worth a try with the blue eye only. In the coming months, going to purchase a Panasonic or JVC Broadcast LCD monitor. ouch($)...

I found this also a useful set of calibration instruction, which I use for my laptop and DV Rack. DV Rack Guide. Go to page 10.

I forgot to mention Mr Brittain, if you are at a trade show or your next order with your dealer, not a bad idea to acquire one of these or these swatchbooks, useful for this exercise, if you are more of a post guy and don't have gels, etc, for a lighting kit. Cheers.
