LCD Calibration

I notice that the color bars aren't quite accurate in the LCD. Perhaps a bit too bright? Can this be calibrated, should it be? Is it something to worry about?

I generally calibrate a monitor in the field for indoor shoots, but outside depend on the LCD for lighting and exposure.

Any comments on this..........

the brightness of the lcd depends largely on the angle of view you are looking at it. it can also be adjusted, but if you want accurate colors.. adjusting the lcd display isnt going to change what your actually capturing.. you need to adjust the actual camera info. if you set the chroma phase to -4 your colors should be spot on with the dvx100. i dont know if they adusted it for the "A" at all to be on without adjustment though.. ive never heard anyone mention it concerning the "A".

so the LCD has no affect on what I shoot. Makes sense. But what about how I expose based upon the image in the LCD. When I look at the color bars, the Pluge area is what seems most out of calibration, I can see the other bars not just that 11.5 which indicates the setting is to bright

well, if your really that worried about not getting the exact exposure from what you see, than you should be using a pro monitor, or the spot meter built into the dvx or otherwise to check exposure levels. otherwise the lcd is pretty accurate out of the box as far as color rendition, and exposure go. but agin the dvx100 would have to have the chroma phase on -4 to calibrate the colors accurately. says mr smile here-> :)

once you get a feel for using the cam, you probably wont worry as much. you get used to judging exposure pretty well off the lcd or viewfinder after a while :)
