lcd calibration

i discoved recently to my dismay that my lcd and probably my EFV are very poorly calibrated. This is a big problem as the footage I think I am filming looks completely different from the actual footage. Can someone please tell me how to calibrate them correctly?

Well, actually, I'd rather people didn't use that terminology... something about lightning bolts and such that keeps me nervous.
