Laying off P2 Footage to DV Tape

Hi Everyone,
I'm having trouble Laying off a 720p- 24p project from FCP 6 to mini- DV tape via a DVX-100b. I've tried to down convert the project by copying it to a DV sequence and changing my firewire settings but no luck. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Make a new sequence, drop in a dv clip from another project to make sure its a dv sequence. Delete that clip and paste your 720 footage. Render and lay it off you your camera.
 
Thanks I'll give it a shot. Do I need to create a new project or just a new sequence in my existing project?
