Laying off from an NLE to the HVX P2 card?

Okay, so I did not search to see if this has been asked before... but...
Could you lay off from your NLE to the HVX at HD resolution and take the P2 card into a post house and layy-off to an HD deck for a master tape?

Will the camera capture as a deck to the P2 card?

Any thoughts.

Thanks,
FD

I don't think that's been confirmed yet, but hopefully it will.

However, whether it will or won't, you should be able to just output an MXF file directly to the card. Remember, you can skip the whole "capture" and "print to tape" functions -- they're totally irrelevant in a P2 workflow. The P2 card is a "hard disk" as far as your computer is concerned, so presumably (and this is guessing, as I haven't tried this) you could just render an MXF file from your NLE and tell it to write it to the card, and -- you're done.

Putting an edited program back to the P2 card would be of great help.

When I had the Z1 I found I sometimes needed to do a presentation for clients of the final edit or special screening, and the camera itself hooked up via component to an HD display device was an effective and foolproof way to do this and avoid WM9 or the like.

Yes you can (at least with Liquid) Xsend a timeline to P2 which would reimport to any other program that ingest MXF (Liquid, XpressPro, Edius).

Click here for a screenshot. Your NLE must support sending to P2 or at least MXF creation.
