LAV settings

Hey. I'm doing a very important shoot tomorrow and the talent asked for a LAV mike, which I have and it's ready to go. My question is, what settings are best to capture the best possible audio? Use 2 channels, input 1 or 2 etc? Thanks..

I usually put nat sound on Ch. 1 and LAV (or handheld) mics on Ch. 2. I think that's the opposite of what most people use. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't really matter what channel the LAV is in.
