I'm sold. That's amazing - even with compression you can see all the little edges of the broom. Amazing
 
We've got a WINNER!!! That made the Reel Stream product look good and the Micro35 look good. If they could team up and have a complete package (discounted) the DVX could compete with the big boys. That was the nicest DVX100 footage I've ever seen. Wow! My only concern is data capture. How many gigabytes is one minute of raw footage?

That's impressive. Wow. I want one too.

I wish they had an actual skilled DP behind these things though. Seems like no matter which product footage we see it's usually 'Random footage of some child in the backyard or on the porch'.

Still looks amazing though but can you imagine the pimping they could do if they actually took the time to shoot somehting of value?
 
Does anyone know how much these are gunna go for and when we can get em? I took a look at their website but couldn't find any official info about that
 
It's a $3,000 modification to your DVX. You send them a DVX and $3,000 and they send you back your DVX modified so it has a USB2 port that outputs this footage.
 
Looks like I won't be getting this lol. 3k more and I can get the hvx200. I didn't think it would cost that much... I guess its to be expected. Footage looks awesome, like john said, I would like to see something more than just random ...

It really is great stuff. Maybe there should be a new TV Show called Extreme Makeover: DV Edition. Or perhaps for the hipper crowd, Pimp my Camera :)
 
awesome awesome stuff, but yeah like hiro said now with the hvx dropping soon what's the point if it's so pricey to mod the dvx.

now if they can do the reel stream for $300-500 i would imagine they would be getting more orders than they could handle...

But the HVX won't output 4:4:4.

Of course, it'll have a better lense, more features (variable frame rates), etc.

I'm gonna be getting a DVX soon, even though I want an HVX. However, and HVX is out of my range at the moment and I don't have the computer system to take advantage of HD footage.

But is the output real 4:4:4?? I though it was 4:2:2 because of pixel-shifting reductions in colour resolution. when achieving HD. :undecided
 
this is really cool stuff. i loved the quality this mod puts out.

if you had to decide between an hvx or the modded dvx, what would you guys choose? i like the idea of shooting at obscenely high resolutions, but the hvx seems more practical (for the price.)

are there any plans for moving this to the hvx? i would consider getting this mod for an hvx instead of buying a p2 card.

the p2 system makes the hvx alluring... but if you can record HD resolutions straight to a harddrive, the versatility of this mod would tempt me more than the p2. if this mod was lower than 2,000 i would consider it. as long as it costs more than a p2 card, i just don't see myself getting it.

The HVX pretty much comes with this built in, can stream HD straight to a firestore etc.. Of course it compresses to DVCPRO HD though.
